It is always a pleasure at this time of year to be able to see a puffin. And it is even better to get close to one. I was a t Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire on a very cold day. When I left home I thought I was in for a good warm day, the sun was shining and the temperature shown on the car was looking good. However, as I got closer to Bempton the clouds were darkening and I could tell that there was a mist in the distance. However, I carried on and arrived in reasonable light, although when I got out of the car I thought I was definitely not dressed for the temperature. I wrapped up as warm as I was able with the clothes I had brought with me and set out along the cliffs in search of the incredible number of seabirds that appear here. The noise and the smell is something to experience. I managed to get several good shots of several species, but this one of the puffin is probably my favourite.
